Coco Martin is no doubt one of the smartest and astute Kapamilya stars who knows how to invest and spend his money wisely. He recently revealed to Boy Abunda that he actually spent a portion of his first million by buying his father a passenger jeepney.
During his interview in “Tonight with Boy Abunda,” Martin revealed that his father used to drive a jeepney that was owned by his aunt.
However, his aunt decided to look for other business opportunity and she decided to sell the jeepney. As soon as Martin found out that his aunt wanted to sell the jeepney, he immediately expressed his desire and interest in buying the jeepney from his aunt before anyone else got to it first.
Martin said: “Pinilit ko talaga. Rumaket ako ng rumaket hanggang sa makaipon ako. Tapos binili ko ‘yong jeep na ‘yon para makabiyahe ‘yong papa ko.”
The actor also recalled his first acting experience which was for a TV commercial, wherein he got paid P8,000. He confessed that it wasn’t a good experience for him though as the director of the TV commercial yelled at him during the shooting.
Martin said: “Actually talagang napahiya ako. Sinigawan niya ako. Siguro mino-motivate niya ako, pero hindi ko makuha eh. Hindi ko pa naiintindihan ang acting noong mga panahon na iyon eh.”
The award winning, independent film director Brillante Mendoza was actually the one who discovered Coco Martin. His previous acting assignments exposed Martin’s innate talent and acting ability and as a result, Martin ended up receiving various acting awards and nominations. He eventually won the Best Actor of the Year for 2015 Eduk Circle Awards.

Coco Martin belongs to the Star Circle Batch 9 – he originally started out in one of the ABS-CBN’s talent agency, Star Magic. His first cameo appearance happened back in the 2001 film Luv Text where he was recognized and credited for his role under his real name, Rodel Nacianceno. This was eventually followed by numerous independent films.
Coco Martin is currently playing a starring role in the teleserye version of Fernando Poe Jr’s “Ang Probinsyano”.
