The demure and talented actress, Jodi Sta. Maria who played one of the lead roles in the successful Pangako sa Iyo drama series culminating in an awe-inspiring episode, divulged how she experienced an emptiness in her life and how she struggled to overcome it.
Considering that she has everything in her life and can’t ask for more, but still she can’t avoid to think back on what happened to her in the past when she encountered challenges beyond her control.
Jodi is currently enjoying her holiday in the Holy Land, but on March 22, prior to her flight to Israel, the late night news show Bandila was able to schedule an interview with her.
According to Jodi: “Ibi-visit namin yung mga places kung saan nagti-teach si Jesus. Kung saan niya ginawa yung ministry niya.”
Sta. Maria also shared her story about how her faith in God continue to grow stronger when she discovered more of His existence and strong influence in her life.
In spite of having it all, such as a comfortable lifestyle, kindly and good-natured son, successful career and a happy relationship, Jodi still expressed her feeling of desolation.
She conveyed: “I felt empty.”
Sta. Maria added: “I remember, sa Shrine Auditorium [Los Angeles, California], after ng performance namin, bumaba ako ng backstage, umiyak ako.
“Sabi ko, ‘Bakit ganun? Akala ko masasagot ng katanyagan yung emptiness na nararamdan ko sa heart ko.”
Since then, the former “Pangako Sa ‘Yo” actress was trying to figure out and searching for a concrete answer concerning her feeling of emptiness and why it’s happening to her.
One day, the veteran actress, Coney Reyes invited her to go to the church.
Jodi remarked: “The pastor, parang yung preaching niya, parang ang dating sa akin niya ginawa yung sermon niya. There’s this hole in our heart that only Jesus can fit.”
Afterwards, her life dramatically changed for the better following that wonderful encounter with Jesus as if the hole in her heart was totally healed.
She finally said: “Before, I used to smoke, drink, yes. Wala na siya ngayon.”
