Must-Visit In Manila: The Refreshing Splash Island

1

With Philippines’ oppressive humidity and high temperature weather, it is no doubt that resorts and beaches are ones of the thriving businesses that are often frequented by people. Joining the most popular names in this industry is Splash Island. It is one of the biggest water parks in the Philippines and is often visited by tourists and locals not only for its accessible location but more importantly, for its hassle-free arrangement.

Splash Island is located at Southwoods Ecocentrum, SLEX, Biñan Laguna. If you have travelled your way to the South, you probably have seen how it looks because of its Dos Supremos slide which is so high; you can even see it from the South Luzon Expressway. That’s not the highlight of it, though. Filled with eye-catching water slides and amusement water rides, it is undeniably a hit for families who have kids.

With an estimated travel time of 41 minutes from the metro, Splash Island cannot be undermined by other luxurious beach resorts and water parks. After all, who loves long, stressful day trips only to be welcomed with expensive beach and hotel accommodation? Splash Island’s accessibility and less pricey fees are what mainly attract most adventure lovers.  Entrance fees vary from P500 for adults and P 400 for kids who are 3 to 4 feet in height.

Those who can’t move without strict planning may easily be turned off with the way Splash Island works. This water park, though guarantees inviting water adventures and fun-filled experience, does not offer overnight accommodation because it only operates from 8 AM to 6 PM. However, it is an ideal day trip for any groups who are looking for a quick escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.

In replacement of sophisticated hotel rooms, Splash Island provides nipa hut cabanas for P800 to 1,500 or pay P1, 200 to 3,000 if you are feeling generous to spend more for an air-conditioned, lock-closed cabana. Save yourself from sometimes traumatic reservation arrangement, cabanas are available on a first-come, first-served basis, where attendant will just arrive at your chosen cottage to collect the payment. Additionally, lockers for your valuables and parking lots for those who bring their own cars are also charged.

While the said set-up is not appealing to everyone, Splash Island clearly marks its territory when it comes to premium water experience. Explore its numerous slides and rides such as the Water Wahoo, which serves as kids’ playground in knee-high water or freely move along the flow of the water when you ride on rafts or floaters in Balsa River. If you clamour for more adrenaline rush, the Big Bamboo slide, which replicates a bamboo tube, is a surprise that the faint-hearted should not have a taste of. On the other hand, families of 4 can bond through the family raft or Rio Montanosa. Everyone loves it as it absolutely provides a less tiring adventure without minimizing the quality of fun and enjoyment. More slide options are available for kids of different ages, but nothing really tops the wave pool or Agos Grandes which mimics sea waves and sands.

It is said that water has a relaxing effect that soothes our tired mind and body, so don’t forget to head south and take a dip!
