In some parts in the Philippines, Good Friday is actually spent performing a very literal re-enactment of the Bible, in particular, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
This annual ritual which draws hundreds of spectators to the streets of San Fernando, Philippines may seem like the movies, except, it’s all very real since real nails are being hammered into real human hands and bare backs gets flogged repeatedly until blood starts to drip.
