Horror Movie Queen Lilia Cuntapay Just Died At The Age Of 81

Dubbed as “Queen Of Philippine Horror Movies,” actress Lilia Cuntapay died at the age of 81 at the house of her son Gilmore Cuntapay in Barangay Tartarabang town of Pinili, Ilocos Norte at approximately 6.00 am, as confirmed by her granddaughter Elma Cuntapay-Daet.

If we can recall Cuntapay suffered from spinal cord injury which was the reason why she was confined in the hospital and experienced difficulty in walking since July 5. She’s under the care of her children during her sickness which started last month.

Apparently, Lilia Cuntapay appealed for help this month from her followers and colleagues in showbiz which was posted on the Facebook page of Cagayan Provincial Information Office.

In her inscription Cuntapay said: “Sa mga concerned citizens diyan, like yung mga directors ko, mga co-workers ko, wala na ako sa showbiz dahil may sakit ako. Kung mahal ninyo pa ako, any help will be appreciated.”

Lilia Cuntapay was recognized and became popular for her role in the movie “Shake, Rattle and Roll” in 1991 where she was also a talent coordinator at that time.

The horror film actress performed in more than seventy movies and television shows which included “Wansapanataym,” “Shake, Rattle and Roll” and “Okatokat.”

Cuntapay was granted the Best Actress Award in her role of her own mockumentary, “Six Degrees of Separation From Lilia Cuntapay” in 2011 Cinema One Originals Digital Film Festival, directed by Antoinette Jadaone.
