Former actress and wife of Mayor Alfred Romualdez, Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez expressed her sincere apology for her daughter, Sofia’s inconsiderate comments posted on Twitter recently against vice-presidential aspirant Leni Robredo.
Cristina’s daughter purportedly posted on her Twitter account: “p***** i*a leni b*b* naman yan walang alam yan t*****a nyo.”
Cristina Gonzales-Romualdez who ran under the banner of Nacionalista Party is now proclaimed as the Mayor of Tacloban City and will assume her office effective June 30, 2016.
She garnered 72,077 vote her closest rival, Councilor Neil Glova of the Nationalist People’s Coalition (NPC), with 23,612 votes having a big margin of 48,465 votes between them. Another mayoral aspirant, Golda Hilda Cabudoy, collected 379 votes only and way behind the mayoralty race.
Cristina Romualdez will be the second woman to assume the post as Mayor of Tacloban City after Obdulia Cinco, who served the Municipality for ten years, from 1976 to 1986.
Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos is the first cousin of Cristina’s husband, Alfred Romualdez.
Cristina in her message posted on Facebook, was really sorry and clarified that she does not tolerate nor approve of her daughter, Sofia’s remarks on her Twitter account.
Gonzales-Romualdez requested for forbearance, denoting that her daughter is only on her tender age of 16 and probably not fully knowledgeable of the repercussions or end results of her actions and behavior.
On her post, Cristina Gonzales- Romualdez said:
IN BEHALF OF MY DAUGHTER SOFIA I APOLOGIZE FOr SUCH WORDS SHE TWEETED ABT LENY. As a mother and most especially as a Christian i do NOT approve of such words. SHE IS VERY APOLOGETIC AND IS LEARNING. SOFIA IS 16 so i believe she didnt realize what she was doing. I HV MET LENY WHEN we went TO THE WAKE OF HER HUSBAND AND I KNOW SHE DOes NOT DESERVE SUCH WORDS. SOFIA ALREADY APOLOGIZED SO I HOPE WE ALL FORGIVE AND LOVE HER SHE IS STILL VERY YOUNG. MAY GOD BLESS OUR COUNTRY. PLS PRAY FOR EACH OTHER AND LOVE AND FORGIVE. I BELIEVE THIS IS WHAT OUR COUNTRY NEEDS. MY KIDS WENT THROUGH A LOT DURING THE DISASTER And WITNESSED EVERYTHING THAT HAPPENED.
