The relatives and friends of Frank Sinatra Jr. were stunned of his untimely death when he died of cardiac arrest on Wednesday, his sister said. Sinatra Jr was 72 at the time of his death. He is the son of the legendary singer and actor Frank Sinatra Sr., who created a name for himself as a singer and conductor.
Frank’s sister Nancy Sinatra posted on her Facebook account: “The Sinatra family mourns the untimely passing of their son, brother, father, uncle, Frank Sinatra, Jr. of cardiac arrest while on tour in Daytona, Florida.” She added: “Sleep warm, Frankie.”
Frank Sinatra Jr failed to appear on Wednesday night at the Peabody Auditorium in Daytona Beach when he’s supposed to perform various songs popularized by his father. In an announcement on Facebook, the auditorium said that the event was cancelled because Frank Jr fell ill.
The auditorium said: “Frank Sinatra Jr has passed away. Our love to his family and friends.”
Frank died at the Halifax Health Medical Centre as reported by the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Sinatra previously told the newspaper that he never felt ashamed or embarrassed of not reaching the level of popularity and success that his father gained.
He told the News-Journal: “I think in my generation, when I came along in the early ’60s, the type of music that was in vogue in society in those days had moved on to another kind of music.” He also said: “I was trying to sell antiques in a modern appliance store.”
